internal soccer tournament-II

Amidst lot of on and off field verbal duel with the opposition team fuelled by a collective rough playing, we won the semi-finals against J A Kixx by 2-1. They were better than us but we kept a good defense and like cricket, waited for the bad ball (read bad defense from their side). Two of our players got injured.

We played finals with a team incomplete yet full of enthusiasm against Real Minnows yesterday . We were loosing by 1-0 in the first half. They scored one more goal in the second half. Their main striker (who happens to be the main striker of our corporate team) shot very powerfully at our goal and our goalkeeper stopped it only to incur a fracture in his hand. A new goalkeeper came in his place. We were left with only 7-8 minutes. I and captain decided that we both should play forward if we want to score. This let up our defense and another three goals were scored against us in succession.

Theirs was a team better than ours but we could have managed a win against them as we did against J A Kixx. Not to mention some members from other teams(not necessarily all team members and not necessarily all football team members) watched the finals from outside making fun of us and throwing volleys of personal comments at us and they seemed more happy than the winners.

All said, I consider it a good feat that we came out second out of thirty six internal teams. Only two of us knew each other before the team was formed.

Another two corporate soccer tournaments are coming up mid of this month.. Hope we win…
