Stock Markets + Reservation + Cricket

Stock market in India witnessed a fall of 1100 points yesterday- the worst fall till to date in its history. It was caused by announcement of intentions of levying tax on FIIs.

Many medical students/doctors in various cities are on strike followed by an announcement by Mr. Arjun Singh that there will be 50 % reservation for OBC etc. in all educational institutions. In some cities IIT students have also joined hands with medical students. Vote bank politics is again raising its head. Our reverent Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh went on to justify quota/reservation and said Corporates have 2 years to implement it.

Saw a young guy carrying this plaque- I turned eighteen 5 years back. I have not voted since this. This time, I will. Congress, you will have to pay.

Indian cricket team ended its record chasing win run in West Indies losing by 1 run. Eleven runs were needed in last over. Yuvraj Singh hit 2 boundaries. 2 runs were needed in 3 balls. He ended up losing his wicket to a slow delivery by Bravo- right on to wicket dislodging stumps! Aha moment for the West Indies. To win 17 times chasing is a feat (and a record as well!) in itself. Sehwag is failing consistently (except for a score of 76 or so against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi ) but has somehow managed to stay put in the team!

My blog entries are becoming more of news entries these days…
