Wimbledon 2006 and World Cup Football 2006

Finally, Italy won the 2006 World Cup Football Cup. The score was level (1-1) shooting the game into extra time and eventually on to penalties. Italy won 5-3 on Penalties. Barthez couldn’t stop even a single one.

France played well too. They kept on attacking in the second half. In the last 10th minute of extra half an hour time, Zidane and Marco Materazzi had an argument following which Zidane headbutted Materazzi in the chest- an open invitiation of a red card. Apparently, Materazzi called Zidane a ‘dirty terrorist’ or something like that…
Result of all this: Next day, I was sleepy whole thru in the office…

Sunday evening also made Federer a Wimbledon champion for the straight 4th time placing him as only the third person to do so.
He beat the Spaniard, Nadal, by 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. After the match, both guys were frank to the media. Federer, in his white coat and shorts, said that he didn’t expect Nadal to be in the finals. Nadal also praised Roger and said that he is not expecting to play against someone like Federer next year. The interesting stats is that Federer went into this match against Nadal with a score of 1-6: Federer lost 4 finals out of these to Nadal this season.

There was an important guest watching Wimbledon as you can see in the photo.
